There are certainly no shortage of articles that talk about the value of having a week off in college football. Does it make a team rusty, does it give them the rest they need to adjust game plans if off to a poor start to the season, etc. Although you can argue any and all positions I decided to just look at some of the facts as opposed to conjecture. Since we have begun week #4 of the College Football season I decided to start by looking at teams coming off a bye week and going into this 4th week. Low and behold, a distinct betting advantage presented itself. So, without further banter, let's take a look Teams that are going into week #4 of the season after having a week off and are listed as a favorite have produced a profitable 86-64 ATS record since 1980. To further narrow I focus if this particular team is playing an opponent off a win they mark goes to an even more profitable 49-22 ATS. So to take the guess work out of the equation, the following College Football Picks jump out at us this week: California, Kentucky, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Washington. As an added benefit if the team coming off the bye week and is favorite versus an opponent off a win who is a non-conference team then the success rockets to 19-2 ATS. Hint: Look for the Non-Conference favorites who are playing a team off a win from the teams above and you'll more than likely have a very profitable Saturday!
