The Vancouver Canucks couldn't get it done in the Stanley Cup final last week, but they're still the oddsmakers' choice on the NHL betting futures for 2011/12.

Vancouver is listed as the 11/2 favorite to win the Cup next spring at Bodog, with core players Daniel Sedin, Henrik Sedin, Ryan Kesler, Alex Burrows, Dan Hamhuis and Roberto Luongo all locked up for next season already. Canucks defensemen Kevin Bieksa and Christian Ehrhoff are eligible to become unrestricted free agents on July 1.

The Stanley Cup champion Boston Bruins are then at 8/1 odds at Bodog to repeat next season, and they already have 18 players under contract for 2011/12. Veteran forward Mark Recchi is retiring, and forward Michael Ryder and defenseman Tomas Kaberle are both scheduled to become unrestricted free agents.

The Washington Capitals, who lost in the second round of the playoffs to the Tampa Bay Lightning, sit at 17/2 odds to finally claim the Cup next year, with the Pittsburgh Penguins and Philadelphia Flyers both at 9/1 odds.

The San Jose Sharks, who Vancouver beat in the Western Conference final in five games, sit at 10/1 odds to win the Stanley Cup next season, just ahead of the Detroit Red Wings (12/1), Lightning (14/1), Chicago Blackhawks (15/1), and Los Angeles Kings (16/1).

The Lightning and Kings both have major contracts to hand out this summer – Tampa Bay forward Steve Stamkos and Los Angeles defenseman Drew Doughty can both become restricted free agents next weekend.

Farther down the list, the relocated Thrashers are at 80/1 odds to claim the Cup for Winnipeg in 2011/12, putting them behind all the other Canadian clubs – Vancouver 11/2, Montreal 22/1, Calgary 35/1, Ottawa 60/1, Toronto 60/1, and Edmonton 70/1.

Finally, the biggest longshot right now are the Florida Panthers, who sit at 125/1 on the current Bodog NHL Cup futures. The low-budget Panthers will have to spend wildly just to reach the salary cap floor this summer.
