Bob Wingerter
6-1 WED.!! THURSDAY ACC TOURNEY Vir/BC ESPN TV.Bob found an ACCUMULATION of WINNING EDGES in today's early Virginia vs. Boston College, Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament matchup. He was 6-1 ATS CBB/NBA yesterday.
|
| |
Bob Wingerter's philosophy of handicapping is serious, no-nonsense, he specializes in NFL / NCAA Football...NBA / NCAA Basketball...Major League Baseball. After a 5 year retirement from offering winning selections to clients, with his vast knowledge of Football.. Basketball..Baseball..Hockey. He returned in 2006, and became a DOCUMENTED award winning champion from Pro Football Weekly's National Handicappers Bowl.
Bob's GAME INSIGHT FORCASTER is not a machine or system... it is a method of handicapping that involves hard work and time. Selections are based on modern technology, long experience, discipline, an accumulation of winning edges and feel for the game. With his experience in every facet of handicapping, he knows about winning and has been doing so for over 30 years. Bob will make you a winner!
The betting line is made to create two-way action and they do a very good job, but public perception is also considered. This opens holes and opportunities and Bob exploits them. Selections will only be among the games meeting his criteria. There won’t be a bunch of statistics, trivial information, speculation and opinions that are contained in the line anyway. With the increasing infomation available from the computer, since it's inception into sports handicapping, analysis like statistics, trends, etc. have become less relevant .Let experience and insight speak for itself.
The most important part of handicapping is discipline and money management. Discipline will be reflected in the selections. Money management you must learn yourself.
Winning is directly related to your knowledge of the opposition. About 60% of all games are determined by luck or happenstance. Its the other 40% or so that separates the men from the boys.
His analogy of handicapping is that of a carpenter going to work without a hammer. A handicapper must have a bankroll.
Bob told us about a question he's been asked over the years, "should I seek help handicapping?" The answer is YES! Don't let your ego get in the way when you are risking an investment. He will be working hard along with all handicappers on this site to ensure your success.
Quote of the week
Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.

The surging Orlando Magic shoot for their seventh straight win tonight in the conclusion of a three-game homestand versus the Chicago Bulls at Amway Arena. Orlando is riding a six-game winning streak and improved to 2-0 on the residency with Tuesday's 113-87 drubbing of the Los Angeles Clippers behind 22 points and 15 rebounds from Dwight Howard, who posted his league-leading 51st double-double of the season. Howard had an NBA-best 69 double-doubles in 2007-08, and finished second in that category last season with 63. The Magic are creeping up the Eastern Conference standings, and sit five games behind top-seeded Cleveland in the No. 2 spot. Chicago has dropped five in a row and completed a winless four-game homestand with Tuesday's 132-108 decision to the Utah Jazz at the United Center. The 2009-10 series between Orlando and Chicago is tied at a game apiece, but the Magic have won 10 of 13 and 11 of the last 15 meetings. The Bulls have lost four straight and five of their last six at Orlando. Bulls are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 when their opponent scores 100 points or more in their previous game and 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games overall. Magic are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games as a favorite of 11.0 or greater and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 home games vs. a team with a losing road record. TAKE ORLANDO MINUS HERE.

West Virginia played strong all season and finished in a three way tie for second place in the Big East with a 13-5 conference record. The Mountianeers are ranked sixth in the nation and were a perfect 5-0 in games played on a neutral court and were 6-3 in conference away games. Coach Bob Huggins has some solid experience and leadership with Da'Sean Butler who scores 17.2 points per game on average and the entire team isn't afraid to hit the boards for the rebounds. As a team West Virginia averages 74.7 points per game on just 43.7 percent shooting but picks up second chances by being 46th in the country in offensive rebounding. Defensively Teams shoot 42.9 percent against the Mountaineers but WVU id 45th in defensive rebounding so it all shakes out to just 64.8 points per game against. West Virginia earned their first two rounds of byes in the Big East Tournament and they are looking to earn a high seed in the NCAA Tournament with a nice run. Cincinnati got to this game with a gritty come from behind upset win over Louisville. The Bearcats never wavered down the stretch and they put forth an entire team effort to get the win. Cincinnati's defense frustrated the Cardinals and while Cincinnati shot a pathetic 34.7 percent from the field and 22.2 percent from beyond the three point arc, it was good enough on that night. The Bearcats had a rough run down the stretch of their schedule and it looks to have knocked them out of the NCAA Tournament field but they are hoping with a run here maybe the selection committee will reconsider. Cincinnati averages just 69.2 points per game as they shoot 43.4 percent from the field. The Bearcats allow teams to shoot 41.2 percent from the field and they hold them to 66.6 points per game. UC basketball isn't pretty all the time but it's proven to be effective. These two played recently and it was pretty tight. This is Cincinnati's third game in as many days while WVU has been sitting on the sideline but we think Cincinnati mucks it around enough to keep this one low scoring and close. TAKE CINCINNATI PLUS HERE.

The first round of the 57th-annual ACC Tournament will come to a close this evening in Greensboro, as the NC State Wolfpack and Clemson Tigers meet up at the Greensboro Coliseum. Sidney Lowe's Wolfpack struggled for much of the season, but the team finally showed signs of a pulse down the stretch, winning three of their last five games to escape the conference cellar at 5-11. Besides Duke and North Carolina, NC State has had the most success in this event among the remaining programs, with 10 tournament titles. However, the last one came way back in 1987. NC State has been competitive of late, but it is Clemson that is the more talented team here. Tigers are 0-8 ATS in their last 8 neutral site games. TAKE NORTH CAROLINA STATE PLUS HERE.

Boston College doesn't have the record to back this up but they have been very competitive over the last two months with five of their ten loss's being by eight points or less. The Eagles biggest issue is when they hit the road where they are just 1-7 in the conference. BC is balanced on the offensive end with four players averaging double figures in scoring but they don't have that explosive go to guy that can consistently score at crunch time. The close loss's and poor road record belies the fact that this team has a veteran nucleus. Joe Trapani is the leading scorer and rebounder with 15 points and 6 pulls but their top four offensive players are all capable of a big game. Virginia hasn't tasted victory in over a month, bringing a nine game slide into the playoffs. The early season ACC leader looks like last season's Cavaliers as they continue to make the same mistakes. I beleive a chink in the armor appeared when they nearly blew a big lead in a narrow win over UNC Wilmington. This team has the talent to be far more competitive than they've shown and simply depend on the scoring of Sylven Landesberg (17 ppg) too much. The Cavs need secondary scoring and I thought Sammy Zeglinski would fill that role but his nine points and 38% shooting are woefully insufficient. Unless UVA develops offense from somebody without the last name of Landesberg it's difficult to see them going deep in the playoffs. The Eagles handed the Virginia a 68-55 defeat a week a go and the question is can the Cavaliers make the necessary adjustments to win this or make it more competitive. Their six point loss to Maryland to close the regular season says this team can compete. TAKE BOSTON COLLEGE MINUS HERE.

| Bob Wingerter Rating System |
He doesn't believe in rating the selections. They are all of merit. Doubling up or chasing can be counterproductive in the long run. Okay, some plays handicap out stronger than others, but without records over thousands of plays, it's hard to have relative values of plays....unless you are psychic. This is not saying that it cannot be helpful to increase your plays when going good (not one winning week) and decrease them when going bad. That is part of good money management. (SEE MONEY MANAGEMENT BELOW) |
| |
| Bob Wingerter Money Management |
Poor money management is the reason 90-95% of all sport bettors lose.
A good rule of thumb is to bet 2% of your bankroll on each play until it goes up 50%. Then increase your plays 50%. Do the reverse if your bankroll goes down.
Try not to risk more than 20% of your bankroll at any one time and over this amount only if you are making 10 or more plays simultaneously.
We wouldn't risk more than 18% while making 5-6 plays at a time.
If you make 1-3 plays a day, risking 10% of your gross bankroll at any one time might be safe.
If you go broke it won't be because you didn't pick winners, it will most likely be due to poor money management. |
