My pitcher performance ratings predict a strong bounce-back effort from both starting pitchers tonight after poor showing in their most recent outings. We also get line value as my power ratings predict just 8 runs in this game.
Pedro Martinez is one of the greatest pitchers in the history of the game, and despite being a bit past his prime, he should still bounce-back from two awful outings in which he allowed 12 runs in just 10 innings. Keep in mind that Martinez has an incredible 2.85 ERA and 1.04 WHIP in 453 career games.
The Mets offense has scored 3 runs or less in 4 of their past 5 games and they are likely to struggle versus Joel Pineiro who sports a solid 2.84 ERA and 1.11 WHIP at home this season. Pineiro has also been strong in his 7 nighttime starts with a 3.61 ERA and 1.18 WHIP and is due for a bounce-back after allowing 7 runs in his most recent start.

Despite a high-scoring game on Monday, these are still two of the weakest offensive units in the league which was evident in a 4-0 final score and easy Under last night. The Padres are averaging just 3.7 runs per game, while the Rockies are averaging just 4.2 runs per game this season.
San Diego was shutout last night and has now scored 3 runs or less in 8 of their past 9 games and they are likely to struggle again tonight as my pitcher performance ratings predict a solid outing for Ubaldo Jimenez who has a fantastic 2.82 ERA and 1.20 WHIP at home this season with a 6-2 Under record.
The Rockies have scored 4 runs or less in 7 of their past 9 games and they will also struggle tonight against Randy Wolf who should bounce back after a bad performance last Friday. Wolf is still having a solid season with a 4.13 ERA and 1.38 WHIP and a fantastic 13-3-1 Under record in his 17 starts.

Excellent value with the Cubs as a small favorite tonight as they are the best team in the National League and will be extra focused after a 2-1 loss last night. My pitcher performance ratings also predict a strong bounce-back effort from Ryan Dempster who is coming off his worst start of the season last Friday when he allowed 8 runs in less than three innings versus the White Sox.
Dempster was due for a correction in that game as we actually used the White Sox as a strong Best Bet winner. Look for Dempster to return to his norm tonight as he entered last Friday with a fantastic 2.63 ERA and 1.11 WHIP in his first 16 starts this season with a 12-4 SU team record.
Despite last night’s loss, the Cubs still stand 50-34 this season, while the Giants are just 36-47, including a weak 15-25 at home. Chicago holds a major offensive edge as they average 5.4 runs per game and bat .284, compared to a San Francisco squad that averages just 4.1 runs and bats only .261, including just 3.7 runs and .256 at home this year.

These teams played a high-scoring game last night with 15 total runs and they should carry that offensive momentum into today’s contest. Florida’s pitching continues to struggle as the Marlins have allowed at least 6+ runs or more in 7 of their past 11 games.
The Nationals have scored 14 runs the past two nights versus Florida and they should have success again today as my pitcher performance ratings predict a below average outing for the Marlins’ Ricky Nolasco who is coming off three straight quality starts.
My ratings also predict a below average start for Washington’s Odalis Perez who has struggled on the road this season with a weak 5.35 ERA and 1.84 WHIP. Perez is averaging only 5.3 innings per start this season which is a problem today as the Nationals’ bullpen is depleted after using five relief pitchers in last night’s high-scoring game.

Look for the Royals to struggle offensively tonight as my pitcher performance ratings predict a strong bounce-back effort from Baltimore’s Daniel Cabrera.
Cabrera is coming off back-to-back road losses, but still has a solid 1.39 WHIP in his 16 starts this season. Meanwhile, my pitcher performance ratings predict a correction for the Royals’ Gil Meche who is coming off three straight wins. Despite his recent success, he still has a mediocre 4.57 ERA in his 17 starts this season.
